Justice League #33

24 Justice League 33Hoooooo-leeeeey crap.

How did I not know there was a Darwyn Cooke Justice League cover coming out this week?! I must be slipping!

For those wanting just a little more New Frontier, Cooke just KILLS this 1:1 variant for the Batman 75th Anniversary. And a word to the wise, just because it’s a 1:1 doesn’t mean you shouldn’t grab one as soon as possible. They’re definitely the faster seller of the two.

Star Spangled War Stories: G.I. Zombie

23 GI Zombie 01 23 GI Zombie 02

Hey y’all!

Well I’m back and there’s been a lot of action in the DC camp lately!  First up the new series by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, Star Spangled War Stories featuring G.I. Zombie with none other than Scott Hampton on the interiors. First issue dropped last month (September 2014) so you should still be able to find copies in your local comic store.

Darwyn’s cover run goes at least four issues, and I definitely can’t wait to see them all!

Batwing No. 27

20 Batwing 27Look at the cover to Batwing #27! Then read my words! Then look at the cover again! Man, my biggest regret of the whole DC New 52 is that I didn’t get on board with Batwing right from the get-go. It’s been a really fun series and now Darwyn’s churning out some of the loveliest covers on the stands.

Look for this one in January!

Rocketeer and The Spirit No. 2 (Variant)

19 Rocketeer and The Spirit 02Woah nelly!  I almost forgot that The Rocketeer and The Spirit #2 comes out on October 23rd!  For those marking their calendars, that’s NEXT WEEK!

If you got the first half of the Darwyn Cooke subscription cover, you’ll definitely want to be on the look-out for the second half because together they’re a really cool set.  My local comic shop just had the last one out on the shelf for anyone to grab, so yours might too!

Batwing No. 26

18 Batwing 26Looks like the good times are gonna keep rolling for Batwing!  Another Darwyn Cooke cover has been announced and isn’t it just a beaut?

For those of you not reading Batwing, you might want to check it out.  Justin Gray always tells a great story, and with Eduardo Pansica on the pencils, you know it’s gonna be a pretty great looking interior too.  December 4th!

Harley Quinn No. 0

17 Harley QuinnGuess what folks?  The November DC solicitations just came out and BAM! just like that we have some new pages from Darwyn Cooke to look forward to.

Apparently Harley Quinn is getting her own book! Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti are writing it, and the first issue is gonna have the who’s who of artists making sure it’s a success.  Darwyn Cooke, Paul Pope, Tony S. Daniel, Art Baltazar, Walt Simonson and Sam Kieth are all on board, and that’s just to name a few!

I’ve never been a huge fan of Harley but I’ll be picking this book up based on talent alone.  Who knows?  Maybe I’ll even become one of the converted.  🙂

The Fox No. 1 (Variant)

15 The Fox 01Hey everybody! Welcome back to the bonanza of upcoming Darwyn Cooke covers!  In October Mark Waid, Dean Haspiel and the good folks at Red Circle Comics are bringing the latest pulp-style hero to the masses with The Fox #1, and it’s shaping up to be a pretty great book.

And of course, like all great books it’s being printed with a Darwyn Cooke variant cover.  You know and I know that Cooke and pulp go together like peas and carrots, so wiggle your way into the good graces of your local shop and make sure they pull one of these beauties for you.

Parker: Slayground

16 SlaygroundSpeaking of Parker, Darwyn recently announced on his site that his next Parker adaptation, Slayground, will be released in December.  Man these books just keep getting better and better.  I absolutely loved The Score and the premise for the newest one – Parker’s struggle to survive being hunted on carnival grounds – sounds even better.

December is a long time to behave myself in the hopes Santa will put this under my tree…

Batwing No. 24

14 Batwing 24Seems like Mr. Cooke is hunkered down working on the new Parker book these days, but lucky for us he’s also churning out the odd cover to tide us over until then.  When does the man find time to sleep?

Batwing #24 comes out on October 2nd, and should be a pretty great read if Justin Gray and Eduardo Pansica have anything to say about it!
